BLACK BAG PRICE VARIATION: Ensuring we could achieve the blackest of blacks with our dyed fibres meant collaborating with a local FIlipino expert on dyeing. We are so honoured she could share her knowledge in the area and with how our black dyed products have turned out. Making sure the final bags matched our vision meant fairly paying for the time, makers and processes that got them to a point of utmost quality and uniformity and this is reflected in the price point of each one-of-a-kind bag.
At Uri our work is made possible by a team of strong women, and we like to honour the part they play in our brand by dedicating a design to them.
This bag is dedicated to maternal figures in our communities. Our founder’s cousin Flora helped her to navigate ehr first business visit to the Philippines, liaise with local governments and look after Charly’s daughter Mylo. She made sure her hand was held and her stomach was full not matter how long a day they’d had.
Secondly we thank the nominated president in our communities, Flora, whose lifetime of artisanal experience is visible in the workmanship of her weaves and the patient guidance she gives to women around her. From prioritising our worker’s wellness to lending a helping hand - Flora is a matriarch.
